MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on Thursday said that it can now respond to emergencies beyond fires with the unified 911 system now supporting cellular technology.
In a statement, BFP spokesperson Fire Superintendent Anthony Arroyo said the unified 911 system has allowed responders’ smart devices to connect to the system that enables not just voice calls, but also text, photo, and live video streaming—effectively enhancing the bureau’s emergency response capabilities.
