The Philippines has officially launched the Unified 911 system, providing Filipinos with a single, nationwide emergency hotline for police, fire, medical, and disaster-related assistance. By dialing 911, callers can now be quickly located via GPS and connected to first responders within three to five minutes. A joint initiative of the DILG, Bureau of Fire Protection, PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT, NGCS Inc., and NGA 911 Philippines, the system adopts next-generation technology already in use in the U.S. and Europe. It integrates emergency units—including the Philippine National Police and BFP—into one centralized network, with capacity to handle voice, text, and video communication for faster, data-driven responses.
