So what is an ESInet, and how will it transform PSAPs across the country?
The Roadmap For NG9-1-1
In previous posts, we’ve explained that NG9-1-1 gives PSAPs the data that they need to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively. Some exciting tools include accurate location reporting, reduction in network outages, and real-time text, photo, and video submissions. These benefits are delivered through a series of software elements called Next Generation Core Services, or NGCS.
If NGCS are the building blocks of a 21st Century emergency hotline, the Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet) is the new roadmap. When you deploy NG9-1-1 in your community, your ESInet will become the infrastructure that ties all of those modern software elements together, creating a clear, secure connection between 9-1-1 dispatchers and the residents that rely on them.
The ESInet is also a conduit for multichannel communication, giving PSAPs the ability to respond to emergencies with 21st Century telecommunication tools. Without it, NG9-1-1 providers would not be able to offer NGCS on a stable, cloud-based network.
